Since December 2017, the Arab Republic of Egypt has allowed nationals of 73 nationalities wishing to enter the country for tourism only, to obtain their visa via a simplified electronic procedure, the e-Visa (for electronic visa).

In the context of Covid-19, the authorities are urging travellers to give preference to e-Visa before arriving in Egypt, which avoids waiting and limits exchanges with immigration authorities.

Germans, Belgians, French, Italians and Portuguese can apply for an e-Visa with their ID card.

What are the eligibility criteria for an Egyptian e-Visa?

1️⃣ Nationality

Travellers must be of one of the nationalities listed in the following section.

2️⃣ Passport

Travellers must have an identity document valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry.

3️⃣ Stay

The stay in Egypt must not exceed 30 days.

4️⃣ Reason

Travellers go to Egypt for tourism only.

5️⃣ Details

Travellers know their itinerary, with details of hotels and places visited.

There are no restricted areas to visit with this visa.
You can go to Hurghada, Cairo or take a cruise on the Nile.

For a trip to Egypt, an electronic visa for Egypt will be required. With your Egypt visa for single-entry tourism, you have one entry into Egypt, 30 days validity, for a total of 23 € per person, excluding agency fees.

With a multiple entry eVisa you have multiple entries for 6 months. Your Egypt eVisa is eligible at all entry points.

Egypt's electronic visas are issued within 7 days for urgent departuresHowever, this timeframe is purely indicative, as we are dependent on the administrative services in Egypt.

When should you travel to Egypt?

March to May is a good time to travel to Egypt. In summer, the heat can be scorching and unpleasant for visiting the country, so this period should be avoided.

Security : it is not advisable to visit the Sinaito the Libyan border to the Sudanese border. We advise against visiting the Nile delta, from east of Alexandria to Port Said and Suezwith the exception of the area around the west bank of the Canal. Middle Egypt should also be avoided.


Health No vaccinations are compulsory for travel to Egypt. Universal vaccinations must be kept up to date. Cairo is one of the most polluted cities in the world.
